Osteopathy for the post-natal period

Once your baby is born your body will start to return to its pre-pregnancy state.

    "I never really felt
    like I got my body
    back after my
    pregnancies, I do
    now! Thanks Sara!"

Laura, Oxford

In some cases this will happen without problems but for many women a little help is needed. We offer post-natal treatments to ensure your body has returned to normal and to carefully rebalance your body after childbirth.

The optimum time to come for treatment is in the 6 weeks after delivery, as beyond this point the soft ligaments start to firm up and any joint changes will be less responsive to treatment. However, it is never too late to resolve post-natal issues, even years later.

Conditions we commonly treat in the post-natal period include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder and arm problems
  • Pelvis, hip and leg problems
  • Circulatory problems
  • Digestive problems
  • Stress

Patients have found osteopathy and cranial osteopathy helpful for many other conditions. To find out more, we will be happy to talk to you.

We can help you with:

  • Relaxation techniques
  • Stress reduction to improve oxytocin levels to increase breast milk production
  • Yoga to release feeding tensions
  • Yoga positions for recuperation and healing
  • Pelvic floor health
  • Gentle exercises to restore core and abdominal strength
  • Re-stabilising the pelvis
  • Recovery after interventions and trauma
  • Integration of the birth experience
